Road Side Repairs in partnership with BEE BIKES!

If a problem arrises you will have knowledge of its cause and know how to get you home, plus the best way to prevent them and  sensible extras to carry on your rides.

Suitable for anyone who has a basic to no knowledge of maintenance and wants to be super confident with maintaining their bikes!

You will get:

  • A multi tool (The one we use)
  • Tyre levers
  • Puncture repair kit
  • A fun time with bikes 🙂

Please bring:

  • Notebook and pen
  • Money for food and beer (local traders will be open).
  • Your bike

Where appropriate, we teach you to make adjustments on your bikes. Sometimes they are beyond repair and parts might need to be replaced. If you are unsure please pop into our shop with your bike and we can let you know.

We have lots of old parts that we learn on, like chains, inner tubes and cables. We can get new parts ready for your course, but these must be pre ordered.

Items covered.

AIR

A1

Inflate tyres to the correct pressure, using a gauge put the valve straight, (and get used to accurately estimating correct pressure by hand).

A2

Remove and replace tube/tyre/rim tape (knowing if and why replacement of any is required) after removing wheel.

A3

Repair a punctured tube. Safe refit of wheel into frame and brakes.

A4

Knowledge of valve types and tyre/tube sizes and types relating to wheel size and rim type.

A6

Spoke tension and adjustment
BRAKES

B1

Knowledge of brake ‘safety check’

B2

Minor fine tuning of brakes using barrel adjusters and centralising screws to get optimum braking performance.

B3

Major adjustments including alignment of brake blocks with rims, limit screw adjustments for children’s bikes, adjusting cable length at pinch bolts.
CHAIN

C1

Lubricate the chain, avoiding over lubrication, and maintain, clean and reliable.

C2

Adjust the chain, on a single speed or gears. Break and fix chain with or without a quick link.

C3

Fine adjust a rear Derailleur gear using barrel adjusters (and limit screws) to achieve optimum changing performance.

C4

Control, headset tension, and alignment.
